I cleaned up and reposted my list of photography agents in the post below this (also, put a link on the sidebar). It’s not a complete list but It’s the one I use. I have a San Francisco, LA and a Europe specific list that I will get around to posting in the next couple months that has more detail in those areas when you can’t afford to fly anyone. Beyond that I use photoserve.
My new favorite agent website belongs to Deborah Schwartz (here)–actually I should credit Bill Charles for being an early adopter of the idea . The first page lists the names of the people they represent and when you roll over the name a photo that represents that photographers work appears. Brilliant. Simple. Most of the time, when I’m out trolling agent websites, it’s because I ran out of ideas or I kinda remember a photographer but have no idea what their name is so, being able to flash through a bunch of photographers quickly is awesome.
I’m not surprised that Deborah has such a friendly website she’s one of those editorial friendly agents I mentioned awhile back (here). She has a stable of talented photographers who love to shoot editorial, can quickly get an answer on availability and has a remarkable ability to juggle the schedule to fit your shoot in.

I’m currently searching for an agent and used your links as a source of research. Thanks for sharing your resources. I just wished you would have revised them a couple of weeks ago. It would have saved me sometime:)
Question for Photog Reps.
How do Reps like to be contacted by photographers trying to build a Rep - Photog relationship?
How does the city the photog is based out of effect representation?
Thanks in advance!

They have very similar lighting and set ups and also mood.

Julian Richards has a similar aesthetic grouping going on and it works just as well as the agents who pick diverse styles for their roster. I’ve worked with a few on the list and I’d say they’re not that interchangeable.

Because of her choice of style you kind of know what your getting into as a client, seems like good branding to me. I can see trouble though as trends change she has a bunch of people who work a like and that could hurt.

Also the brightness level and contrast is much the same in all the work pushing the highlights to the edge, this is no bad thing and to a degree reflects a person who has an understanding of colour management - knows how the image will look in print. However Dougs point is difficult to escape.

In answer to an earlier question, as agents we usually like to be approached via email and provided a weblink. We always look at these and if it’s going to be a body of work that “fits” we’ll get back in touch. Unfortunately we do get quite a lot of correspondence so can’t always get into lengthy replies, but this is certainly the best way to get in touch, from cold.
By the way… we should be on your list

wouldn’t you know, Deborah Schwartz’s link on your Reps page was one of the ones I DIDN’T click on. (see my comment on the Reps page) My hat, like yours, is off to her. (I’m just sorry she doesn’t handle my kind of work! lol)
Thanks for highlighting her —
