Park City is a tiny town. I mean tiny. However, once a year it plays host to The Sundance Film Festival, and for a couple weeks, Park City is crawling with film buffs making movie deals.

Of course, most tiny towns like Park City don't have the luxury of something like the Sundance Film Festival bringing big-names into town every year, but most mid-sized cities play host to a number of conventions and events that can offer little windows of big-city serendipity in manageable doses.

One advantage to mid-sized town is that you're less likely to encounter a sea of glass when you go out to shoot!

Living in a city doesn't increase the odds, per se. Being active in a community does. We all know artists who live in a city, yet remain isolated in their studios, and other artists who live in the boonies yet are active members of an artistic community.
