since when are you supporting give-away-your-stuff-for-free???

from the Issuu terms of service http://issuu.com/about/terms (emphasizes are mine)

“By distributing or disseminating Uploader Submissions through the Issuu Service, you hereby grant to Issuu a worldwide, non-exclusive, transferable, assignable, fully paid-up, royalty-free, license to host, transfer, display, perform, reproduce, distribute, and otherwise exploit your Uploader Submissions, in any media forms or formats, and through any media channels, now known or hereafter devised, including without limitation, RSS feeds, embeddable functionality, and syndication arrangements in order to distribute, promote or advertise your Uploader Submissions through the Issuu Service.”

thats basically the license for a royalty-free stock agency.

bernd, I think you missed the end of the terms you quote. “… in order to distribute, promote or advertise your Uploader Submissions through the Issuu Service.” So their license is limited to that, not unlimited use such as royalty free. And the license expires if you remove the pix from Issuu. “the following license granted by you terminates as to a specific Uploader Submission once you remove or delete such Uploader Submission from the Issuu Service.”

Chris-
Hmm. Sorry, but I have to pretty much agree with Bernd.

I can’t wait for page flipping on the computer to die. Terrible fad.

well, chris, might be that it ends when you delete. but “the issuu service” is a pretty undefined term. i am not saying they have any bad intentions or try to rip anyone off, but they pretty much could.

they should offer a paid service to make your files into pretty flashthingies to host them on your own webserver. now that would be nice.
