“When a photographer records an image, there is a message he or she wishes to convey. Since the photographer cannot verbally express that message to the viewer, it is the photo critic’s job to ascertain whether or not the photographer succeeded at visually expressing that message to the viewer.”
Maybe the photo criticism school is right for you (here). Only $299.

  1. Wow! I coulda went to school for that?

Can I give them a site critique? They need to figure out what the hell is going on with their text… all fuzzy and tough to read.

Maybe I need to start my own school!

  2. Umm … someone needs to go to website criticism school …

  3. One part of that job has already been automated. When my camera hits the buffer it displays a “busy” message over the preview.

Isn’t that often the problem with photos? The operator didn’t do a clear enough job of communicating the message?

There most likely is a good teaching moment here. One day I pondered if I should actually pay attention to the busy messages as if it was photo criticism.

  4. I’m curious how many of those photos are being used with permission.

  5. this is a joke, right?!

  6. Define Joke!

Apparently it’s trying to be real.
However, there is only this website and only one other outdated reference via google to the “American College of Photographic Criticism” or “American College of Photographic Arts” (apparently Mr. Shepherd is confused).

The regestration address is a sub-development. What’s sad is there will probably be people pay the money thinking it’s legit.

  7. Yeah..and no answer at the phone number and not a professional message.

Everyone, if you ever have doubts about the validity of a website you are looking at, certianly before you buy from a site you have ANY question about. Google whois lookup and put in the domain name of the website. It’s at least a start.

Just about to close the map in google and took a closer look. This joker lives on golf course property. Not right off a hole but it’s a really nice sub-dev (if you are into that sort of thing.)…Hmm…I guess the jokes not on him but hopefully he’ll get his someday.

  8. Sweet! I can now be a professional bar tender and critic for less then a grand.

  9. Sweet Jesus – I hope noone sent any money to a site that looks like this! I know where that is – nothing but meth labs and the land speed record-holding American.

If anyone here sent in their money, lemme know and I’ll go get it back for you…
