The work prepares you for that moment

“When I’m asked about my work, I try to explain that there is no mystery involved. It is work. But things happen all the time that are unexpected, uncontrolled, unexplainable, even magical. The work prepares you for that moment.”
– Annie Leibovitz

I believe Annie Leibovitz wrote that ABOUT Dorothea Lange. Or did I mis-read it? i like to think of the John Milton quote “Luck is the residue of design.”

People I talk about my work are often surprised when I tell them that, often times, talent has little to nothing to do with getting a shot. Research, preparation, and technique – it’s work!
