So many of the photos look so similar and every time you press the shutter you’re thinking that this photo ever so slightly improves on the last image. And the next improves the last. And you never really know when they’ll stop improving. At some point you get the photo of the day – the photo you’re happy with.

  1. In my experience, this is an oversimplification. The improvements aren’t typically so linear…more of a jagged line that hopefully has an overall positive slope toward improvement…:p

  2. I’m personally surprised how often the first picture of the day turns out to be the best shot.

    • @Ian Aleksander Adams, Me too! I’ll often be shooting something and I’ll keep shooting hoping/trying to get a “better” shot. Then I’ll get home to edit and realize that my first shot — the one that came from pure instinct (or something like that)– was actually the best one.

  3. I love the fact he continued to follow his instinct, his style, pushing to find that visual statement. It’s is inspiring to read about someone who has pursued a path and learned on the fly.
