“Can you please remove the iStockPhoto watermark on the photos? I don’t think it adds anything visually.”

Picture 8

Funny website where designers submit client horror stories (here). Found it on SwissMiss. Where’s the photographer version?

  1. For crying out loud! They might think iStockPhoto watermark is a part of composition heheheh ;) I wish it were easy to tell the client: “The watermark is there to make sure you buy the pic not shamelessly lift it”

  2. ROFLMAO!!!!

    hilarious stuff!

  3. It’s kind of like a car thief asking you to leave the keys in the ignition…LOL

  4. Ha ha – love it. Thanks for sharing.

I think this sort of thing applies to anything for clients – photography, software, etc etc.

Sent it to some friends one came back with the quote:

“Could we try a darker black?”

  5. Loved the homosexual skeleton. LOL.

  6. and they said there is no morons in our business..

  7. Even with removed watermark you can tell if an image is from iStockPhoto (or any other microstock-agency) *hehe

Some weeks ago I went through the websites of around 5000 ad-agencies in Germany.

Around 2/3 use similar RF-microstock-pics on the websites to ‘express their creativity’ :-)

    #1 – woman with headset
#2 – crowd of people in office
    #3 – variations on the notebook-theme (notebook-blue sky-green meadow-man/woman/family)

But it’s a good filter for a client looking for creativity … just skip the ones above and go with the other 1/3 …

    Cheers from Austria,

  8. What is going on with photo buyers?

Is that profession filling up with rank amateurs the same as the “I went to Best Buy and bought a camera; now I am a photographer” crowd is?

  9. ROFLM?O! Yeah some people need to put the pipe down, pull their heads out…….. Thanks Rob needed the laugh today.

  10. i love it when you do great work for a client and they never use you again.

  11. Unfortunately a lot of these sound like some recent clients!

  12. Reminds me of a recent phone call.

Hello, do you do pregnancy photos? The baby bump type thing?

Yes I do, whens the baby due?

Shes due in February but I’m going to be busy, can we book a date for late March?

Sorry I think I’m booked all of next year.

  13. My friend who is also a designer forwarded me an email one time where the client asked her to change the color of the word “proof” that was stamped right across the image she’d created.
