Kareem Black – Shoot What You Love

2009 was a tough year for me but it was also one of the best years I ever had creatively, because I was forced to reevaluate what I thought was important.

Through one of the toughest years I ever had, I made a ton of great new work, got a brand new portfolio that’s getting me new work now.

See his work (here).

Also, watch (abstract marketing).

Yay. Good for him. (I can relate to pretty much every word he said.) I both like the way he thinks, and how he’s able to express those thoughts. Class act.

I’d love to see more of his personal work, especially the images that Bernstein & Andriulli told him to showcase in a port.

All in all, very insightful interview. Cool work from a cool guy.

I don’t believe for a second that his nightlife work was a spontaneous idea, this man is business minded and saw an opportunity to cash in on the new hype for downtown low budget party photography being used in commercial work.

@Anon, I don’t know him really well, but I’ve seen him with a point and shoot at parties, openings, fashion/accessory shows for years and years, and years. Cashing in on what he was already doing is more like it.

Love this post and then started to watch the other videos he has out there. Nice message, from the heart. Honest and one of the best marketing strategies I have seen in a long time associated with a good photographer.

Actually I dream of being a WWII fighter pilot…

but for now I guess I can wrap my head around what Mr. Black is spilling about photography…I just wish I could get the school I’m in to let the effing reins go so I can run with it at full speed.
