What a great pair of portraits of Sherman. Considering what she does with exploring identities and assigned and perceived societal roles in her own work the use of the funhouse flexing mirrors as part of the set in the second photo is inspired and insightful, maybe as good a portrait of an artist as I’ve seen since Arnold Newman was in his prime.
I know I always feel uncomfortable on the other side of the lens, even when family is just snapping a picture for family posterity. I rarely like photographs of me take by others. With that in mid I have to agree with Ellis, exceptional portraits.
