Much as I like Alan Cumming, can anyone explain why celebrities now get to talk about their Instagram pics as if they were important?

Sebastian Kim needs more exposure! He is such a real and kind person and a hell of a photographer.

Alan Cumming is great actor but I honestly I think his pictures are cheap philosophy. I don’t see a technic skill or craftsmanship in his pictures.

It was great to see more of the work of Sebastian Kim who is a very interesting photographer. Alan Cumming is funny and interesting, but calling him and most of the other celebrity guests photographers is, well, kind of pushing it. But this is the format Mark has chosen and it does work pretty well.

Cumming has a good eye for composition, no doubt, and I liked the shots he showed, but, uh, Sebastian is just in a different world. I also agree that the format works well. Its just good chemistry.

“I’d rather do the things I want to do, and have fun, and find new ways to connect with people- which I really think the photography thing’s been great for me in that way- than not do it for fear that people would criticise.” – Alan Cummings (in this interview)

Vive l’amateur!!

I’ve enjoyed all of the Mark Seliger interviews. It’s interesting to me, that years ago I would have preferred Sebastian Kim’s work to Alan Cummings, but now I prefer Cummings’s work. And this is no detraction whatsoever from Kim’s work. But for me, Cumming’s work feels realerer — although I didn’t care for the teapot/joint/fly/champagne glass photo. Cumming’s point of reference is unburdened of the weight of Avedon, Watson, Drtikol, etc. — which I think weighs heavy on Kim. Then again if it were just between Kim’s scooter photos and Cumming’s it’s something else. Loved Kim’s comments on cellphones and UFOs — is that original?

Keep doing what you’re doing Sebastian. Such an inspiration!

As a scooterist and photographer I’m a big fan of Sebastian Kim.. I’m one of those folks who first heard of him through “postings on scooter forums” -amazing and inspirational work. Congrats on the new baby, Sebastian.

It’s sad how little traffic the Capture series is getting relative to garbage like unboxing videos. I hope it takes off because I worry the traffic is too small to keep it going.
